Coast Guard Manhunt in Rancho Palos Verdes

Posted on 09 August 2011

RANCHO PALOS VERDES, Calif. — I was woken up this morning by unusually close helicopters hovering over the ocean directly in front of our Palos Verdes estate. After looking outside, I noticed my house guest was outside in awe too. From the south terrace, we counted 8 coast guard boats in total & watched 3 helicopters hovering up & down the coast. Our pool guy informed us the street was closed off as well.

Turns out, the Coast Guard are searching for the passengers of a capsized boat, found off the coast of Rancho Palos Verdes, specifically, Palos Verdes Estates.

A panga boat was spotted Tuesday morning around 6:30 a.m. below the 700 block of Paseo del Mar ( where my summer chateau just happens to be located.)

Coast Guard Divers have reportedly pulled several blue canisters from the water and suspect this was actually a drug smuggling boat.

My chateau is one of many large estates up on the oceanfront cliffs of Palos Verdes Estates. I can’t help but think this wouldn’t be the ideal landing spot for drug smugglers, unless they were prime athletes planning to scale the cliffside carrying heavy drug canisters and risking one hell of a belly flop!
